BAPTISM

What is Baptism?

Baptism is the first step of obedience for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. It is a public confession of faith and a calling on the name of the Lord. Through immersion, believers are identified with Christ’s death and burial, signifying the end of their old life of sin. Being raised from the water signifies resurrection to walk in newness of life.

Baptism does not save us, but it is Christ’s ordained way of identifying with Him and testifying to the transforming power of the gospel. It is both an act of obedience and a witness to others that you belong to Jesus.

When is My Baptism?

Once you’ve received the Baptism Readiness Guide and met with Pastor Josh, you may request a Sunday for your baptism. We encourage you to invite family and friends to attend and celebrate with you.

On the morning of your baptism, meet Pastor Josh in the foyer at 10:30 AM. He will show you where to change, walk you through the baptismal process, and answer any final questions you may have.

What Should I Wear?

We provide a baptismal robe, but please wear dark shorts and a modest top underneath—nothing that becomes see-through when wet. Bring a full change of clothes, necessary toiletries, and a plastic bag for wet items. Towels are provided, and attendants will be available to help you prepare.

What Will I Do During the Baptism?

At the start of the service, Pastor Josh will explain the meaning of baptism to the congregation. When it’s your turn, you’ll be guided to the top of the stairs at the baptismal pool by an assistant.

Before baptizing you, Pastor Josh will ask two questions:

  • “Do you profess to have repented of your sins and trusted Christ alone as your Savior?”
  • “If you were to die today, do you know that you would spend eternity with Christ?”
He will then gently lower you beneath the water and raise you up again, signifying your union with Christ in His death and resurrection.
